The “POP”

Patient’s often ask what the “pop” is when they are getting adjusted and what does it mean.  The sound is a product of the decrease of pressure inside the joint and popping resulting nitrogen and oxygen air bubbles.  From my 1st day of Chiropractic College they told me it means “nothing” it is just a common by product of the adjustment.

From a January 2011 article in "Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics" (JMPT), comes more evidence that the sound is just simply the sound.  100 patients were treated and then separated into those who had a “pop” during their adjustment and those who did not hear a “pop,” even though the same adjusting technique was used.   After comparing the two groups, not only did they get the same amount of relief from their pain, but both groups had the same measurable changes in their bodies (blood pressure, decreased muscle spasm, active increased range of motion, passive range of motion, etc.)

“I can’t seem to get my energy back, I have nagging pain or I am so stressed out”

Do these statements sound like you?  Since January, 2011, Karen Zaabel, RN, BSN, healing touch practitioner has been onsite Tuesday-Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 6 p.m.  She has had the opportunity to meet and talk with many of you about the benefits of healing touch.

Healing Touch is based on the belief that human beings are fields of energy that are in constant interaction with others and the environment.  It is based on the premise that the human body is surrounded by an energy field (auras) and contains energy centers (chakras) that control the energy flow from the energy field to the physical body. (See diagram of chakras)

The goal of Healing Touch is to purposefully use the energetic interaction between the Healing Touch practitioner and the patient to restore harmony to the patient's energy system.  Healing touch therapy is a gentle energy-based therapy that emphasizes heart-centered care and compassionate healing intention.

Illness, stress, spiritual and emotional trauma can cause the body's natural energy flow to become congested or blocked.  Healing Touch is an "energy therapy" that uses gentle non-invasive hand techniques thought to help re-pattern the patient's energy field and accelerate healing of the body, mind, and spirit.  By performing healing touch therapy, the body’s energy levels become smooth and balanced so that the person can self heal.

Healing touch is not meant to replace medical treatment but to be used in conjunction with other therapies.  Healing touch is safe for all ages.

Karen is offering 15, 30 or 60 minute healing touch sessions.  Cost is $15 for 15 minutes, $30 for 30 minutes and $55 for 60 minutes.  Packages are available for 30 and 60 minute sessions.
